The rich scenic beauty of the region also makes it suitable for long walks along meandering mountain trails and exploring the many terraced fields and quaint villages. A whiff of the pristine mountain air is enough to replenish your energy and have you forge ahead to the melodious tunes of weathered residents of the area. You can also take along a picnic lunch and savor it as you gaze upon the spectacular views from a hilltop. Sattal Lake is just a 20-minute walk with Naukuchiyatal being closer.
Bhimtal Lake is the second largest in the Kumaon region and sits at an altitude of 1370 m. There is no dearth of recreational opportunities such as boating in the calm waters or fishing after obtaining the requisite permissions. This lake is believed to have been frequented by the Pandavas during their exile and is named after the third brother and might warrior Bhima.
