Located equidistant from Thalaserry and Kannur towns, this Offbeat Beach House at Thottada offers you the choice of a languid holiday or one steeped in culture and exploration.

This Offbeat Beach House at Thottada has been designed in the traditional Kerala style of architecture with the use of natural materials such as mud tiles and a thatched roof. The cottages have been designed to ensure that all rooms get a sea view from some angle or the other. The cottages also feature a long, wide veranda in front to enable you to enjoy the stunning landscape without having to leave the comfort of your accommodations. Start your day with a typical Kerala breakfast as you enjoy the early morning views. Though the menu here is not extensive, you do get a choice of fresh seafood each day. Barbecued or smoked lobster, mussels, crabs, and squids are available seasonally.  Nearly all the vegetables used in the kitchen are sourced fresh from the organic backyard garden on the property. Ayurvedic massages and treatments can be arranged at the beach house upon advance notice.

Superior and Standard are the two categories of rooms at this property. The Superior rooms have been built of yellow laterite stones and have terracotta flooring along with high ceilings topped by a thatched roof to ensure natural cooling. All rooms at this Offbeat Beach House at Thottada are well-ventilated and equipped with mosquito screens. What better way to relax and commune with nature than at a comfortable, eco-friendly beach house which uses biogas, organic ingredients, and believes in composting and recycling.

Lounging on the beach and soaking up the sun are things that must be done while at a seaside getaway. A candlelit dinner as you sip tropical wines is yet another experience offered at the beach house. You can also book Ayurveda massages or treatment for some holistic rejuvenation or you can choose to witness cultural performances of local art forms such as Theyyam and Kalaripayattu. The Kerala Folklore Academy at Chirakkal is just a short distance away and is a rich repertoire of the folk art traditions of the state. Chirakkal Lake is situated adjacent to the museum.

There is plenty for adventure-seekers to do here as well. Go kayaking at sunset or in the light of a full moon – whichever takes your fancy. An amusement park, Sadhoo Merry Kingdom, is situated just 3 km away from the beach house. For explorers, Thalassery and Kannur Forts, Arakkal Museum, Muzhappilangad drive-thru beach, Dharmadom Island with its secluded picnic spots, and local handloom weaving industries are some locations that are worth a visit while at the beach house.
