General
The sands of time wait for none, but even time stands still at the Heritage Homestay in Kutch, your gateway to an ancient realm.
The capital of Kutch, Bhuj is a city steeped in culture. Resurrected after a massive earthquake that almost flattened it, the city is now a melting pot of colors with prominent historic buildings reminding its visitors of its rich history. From fine handicrafts that scream perfection to glittering textiles with exquisite mirror work and embroidery, Bhuj has much to offer avid travelers and souvenir collectors. The Kutch region attracts tourists and travelers from all around the world, who come to witness the changing appearances of the Rann of Kutch, a unique landscape that’s almost a geographic phenomenon. Whatever the reason that got you to Bhuj, you will have a memorable holiday when you stay at the Heritage Homestay In Kutch.
Built in 1905, the Heritage Homestay In Kutch stands the test of time and exudes the charms that make it historically and architecturally relevant. It is located in the central Kutch region and is spread over a sprawling 2-acre land. Its architecture stands true to traditional Kutch-style construction using local sandstone. Every part of the homestay, its portico, courtyards, pillared halls and stucco pavilions, has a story to tell. The family that runs the property has a school on its premises, where the guests are free to volunteer if they want. The homestay serves a variety of Indian and Continental meals to pamper the guests’ palette. You have the option of dining al fresco or in the vintage dining room which is semi-open and made of earth dust bricks. If you are interested, you can also watch and learn how the meals are prepared.
The well-appointed, yet simple, rooms at the Heritage Homestay In Kutch promise comfortable accommodation during your holiday in India’s Wild West. There are six rooms and an eco-friendly serviced apartment pavilion that comes with a tennis court. Each room has a name: the Gulabi Medi, the Jhalawar Suite, the Sorthambha Suite, the Verisalji Suite, Nava Oorda (the latest addition to the century-old homestay), and the Lal Bungalow.
The rooms and tents at the farm stay are within the orchard which covers 12 acres and seems like an oasis of green amidst the dusty terrain of Kutch. These rooms are named after flowers and the tents are called the Mandrake and Phantom!!
Each of the rooms is spacious, has a character of its own, and will make you feel like you are a part of history. All the rooms have an ensuite bathroom and are equipped with all the modern comforts you will need for a relaxed, comfortable stay at the homestay. It’s time to embrace the bygone era with open arms. This season, give the much-clichéd hill stations and beaches a miss and head to this culturally rich landscape to enjoy a memorable holidaying experience.
