This Eco-Friendly Retreat at Borong has buildings made from logs of wood with tiled roofs that help them blend into the surroundings seamlessly. The structures also feature plenty of windows to enable you to enjoy the landscape from the comfort of your room.
The in-house chef prepares a variety of vegetarian and non-vegetarian dishes across many cuisines including Bengali, Indo-Chinese, North Indian, and Sikkimese. All the food at this Eco-Friendly Retreat at Borong is cooked fresh with organic produce from the vegetable garden on the property. You can choose to have your meals in the dining room or make use of the room service facility. You can also enjoy a barbecue dinner under the starry sky if weather permits. The vast grounds of the retreat are a bird watcher’s paradise and there is also a handmade paper factory nearby for those who are interested. The grounds on the property provide you with ample opportunities for bird watching and the icing on the cake is that it sits in the path of migratory Himalayan birds. You could even glimpse a few feathered species as you sit on your balcony sipping a cup of hot tea. If you are the outdoorsy types, then you can choose from hiking trails of different degrees of difficulty and duration. You could also try out papermaking at the handmade paper factory close by and create a few souvenirs to take back home.
One of the popular attractions in the area is the Old Ralang Monastery which dates back to the 18th century. Ravangla is known for its scenic beauty as also the Pang Lhabsol Festival while the New Ralang Monastery is famous for its Black Hat dance. The sprawling Buddha Park or Tathagatha Tsal has a massive statue of Sakyamuni Buddha and with its landscaped gardens and walkways makes for a visual treat. Lasooney is considered the best viewpoint for gazing at majestic Mount Kanchenjunga while Silver Falls and Barmeley Bridge are not-to-be-missed spots for trekkers and hikers.
