Nestled in the lush greenery of the Western Ghats, this Ancestral Family House at Thirthahalli in Shimoga district is perfect for a quick getaway. Far from the hustle and bustle of city life, this homestay gives you the opportunity to experience life in a rainforest. A stream flows adjacent to the property which is easily accessible by road.
This Ancestral Family House at Thirthahalli is more than 350 years old and has even played host to Kuvempu, the great Kannada poet. Built in the traditional style of architecture common to the region, the house features a tiled roof and stunning wooden pillars. Manicured gardens and paved pathways provide plenty of opportunities for exploration of the property. Buffet meals with Malnad cuisine are available to all guests in the dining hall with an option of vegetarian or non-vegetarian to choose from. There is a swimming pool as well as a play area to help you make the most of your time here. Bonfires on the grounds warm up the chilly evenings that are typical of the region. Indulge in some wine-making from tender areca nut or learn about the process of rubber-making while you are here.
There are five rooms that can accommodate a variety of groups and four tents for the more adventurous travelers. Some of the rooms come with attic beds while the family room with two bathrooms can accommodate up to 12 people at a time. All rooms are comfortably and elegantly furnished with modern amenities and come with a balcony to enable you to enjoy the fresh air and soothing views. The perfect destination for some quality bonding with friends or family!

Enjoy your time away from work and home by making the best use of facilities available on the property such as a sparkling swimming pool, party area, games room, play area for children, and the campfire. You can also go on treks to the plantations or the forest surrounding the homestay. Get up close with wildlife such as Nilgiri langurs, Malabar Giant Squirrel, Malabar Grey Hornbill, and Yellow Browed Bulbul amongst others. You can also choose to enjoy a culinary demonstration or stroll down to the natural stream close by.
The quaint town of Thirthahalli is only about 10 km away as also Chibbalagudde by the banks of the River Tunga, known for its Sri Siddi Vinayaka Temple and Matsyadhama which is home to plenty of fishes as the name suggests. Kavishaila which is about 5 km from the property has a monument dedicated to the great poet Kuvempu, his ancestral home, and a museum. Koppa, known for its coffee plantations, the 9th-century Kavale Durga Fort, and Mandagadde island which a favorite haunt of birdwatchers are also easily accessible from here.
