This ethereal Mountain Resort at Pothamedu, scenically perched atop a peak, is the highest resort in God’s Own Country. The captivating beauty of Pothamedu and Munnar is highlighted by the mountain on one side, tea plantations that stretch as far as the eyes can see on the other, and a sprinkling of streams, waterfalls, and forests. The high altitude of the resort creates the illusion of living amidst floating clouds and the resort has an air of pristine tranquillity about it.
Different types of structures house the luxurious rooms and cottages at this Mountain Resort at Pothamedu which offer spectacular views of the mountain range, valleys, tea estates, and stunning visuals of the sky. There are five categories of accommodations at this Mountain Resort at Pothamedu—garden view, mountain view, and valley view rooms apart from standard and deluxe two bedroom cottages. While rooms are spacious and chic, the cottages come with their own dining areas and are suitable for larger groups and families. Things to do
Munnar is mystical with the sun’s rays staging a spectacular drama against the mountains, tea estates, forests, and waterfalls. You can go on one of the guided morning treks organized by the resort which has to be booked in advance. During this trek, you get to scale the rocky terrain of one of Kerala’s spectacular mountain regions. The resort can also arrange for forest campfires at night with a minimum requirement of four persons. Barbecue, dinner, music, as well as to and fro transportation is included in the fee.
The thundering Attukad waterfall is a short drive through tea and eucalyptus plantations from the resort at 10 km. A jeep safari to Kollukkamalai, the highest tea garden in India, is a thrilling experience that rewards you with a breathtaking view. Venture out on a thrilling safari through Eravikulam National Park for some close encounters of the wild kind.
The Mattuppetti Dam reservoir is strikingly stunning and placid enough for pedal and speed boating. There is also the Indo-Swiss Dairy Project in the vicinity if you are interested. The Kannan Devan Tea Museum which chronicles the history of the tea industry in Munnar is a must visit.
