Things to do

There is just so much to do in and around the Spice Village that there is no scope of any boredom creeping in from any crevices. The location proves to be rather advantageous as you can take a tour, trek or safari to witness sunsets, hike or explore the wildlife around you. Take up complimentary eco activities and cooking demonstrations or shell out some money for trekking, rafting, and animal interaction. Whatever you choose to do, rest assured, there is something for everyone.

Try your hands on some spicy pepper through an hour-long pepper vine tour. Book a tour to pick the pepper from the farms and understand the art of plucking and drying pepper. Extend your quest for spices to the kitchen where you can experience a cooking demonstration to learn the secret recipes by the chef himself. Walk around the spice garden to catch glimpses of the luscious greens and wild blooms. For an extra payment, take up a bullock cart tour to visit the nearby villages and farms, try elephant riding or sign up for a day adventure of bamboo rafting.

If heavy duty trekking and exploration is your forte, tread on to the night trek to experience the nocturnal travel bug in you. Watch rare species of nocturnal creatures like Nilgiri flying squirrels, fruit bats, nightjars, owls etc. become active at night and take up the once-in-a-lifetime experience that you will never forget. To get closer to wildlife, head to the Periyar Tiger Reserve located very close to the resort and spot numerous species of birds, mammals, reptiles, amphibians, and fish.

If you don’t like the idea of traversing far, you can hang out by the volleyball, badminton and tennis courts at the resort. Additionally, you could indulge in yoga or take part in some eco activities like hand-made paper making, solid waste management, water recycling, organic farming, solar energy conservation etc. Besides these, you can attend a slide show on the surrounding flora and fauna or enjoy performances of classical dance forms such as Bharatanatyam and Mohiniyattam.
